“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
JESUS HAS A DREAM! Dreams drive us and define our lives. Certainly it was Jesus’ dream which defines His life and drove Him to endure the Cross and to scorn its shame….all for the joy set before him. Martin Luther King Jr had a Dream, which rang out from this very national mall – a dream of brotherhood and Freedom. While it was a great dream and changed our country forever, it still limited itself and was restricted to America and its problems, making it but a shadow of Jesus’ dream. No one dreamed like Jesus dreamed.
JESUS DREAMED OF A CHURCH OF ALL NATIONS “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus used all authority to deliver his speech from the mountain top where the 12 would go to get a vision of how the “Kingdom of God” would one day envelope the entire globe.
JESUS DREAMED WE WOULD ALL BE ONE
“I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name — the name you gave me — so that they may be one as we are one….My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one” John 17:20-23 While the guards marched to arrest Jesus and his closest friends slept, exhausted with sorrow (Luke 22:45) Jesus was fueled by the dream of a united people, who would be driven by, and be defined by the same dream of the” Kingdom of God”.
THE JOY SET BEFORE HIM WAS YOU BEING WITH HIM IN HEAVEN ”Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” John 17:24-26 Jesus’ dream wasn’t just for His church to be a united church of and in ALL NATIONS. His dream was that you would be a part of that church, that you would be one with everyone in that church, and that you would be with him, where he is at, that you would see his glory, that His glory would be your glory, and that the Love the Father has can be your love so that you and I would have the only happily ever after that truly exists!
See you there!
