Christmas comes yet once a year, and it’s a time that we typically reflect on the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. But what gets us into the Christmas spirit? Is it the gifts under the tree, the aroma of the hot cocoa and the Christmas feast that’s prepared? Perhaps it’s the smell of the Christmas tree or the colorful lights that adorn the homes throughout the neighborhood. Whatever it may be for you, I do hope that you take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and the story of Jesus Christ’ birth.

This has been an amazing year for my wife and I as we celebrate just a little over a year being with the DC Church. We’ve grown so attached to many of you, especially those within the North Region and the awesome Sold Out Singles Ministry! We pray that 2015 brings even more fruit and life long friendships and relationships with even more of you! We truly love you all with the love of the Lord.

In the gospel of Luke chapter 2 the bible reads:

”Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

As we open gifts and spend time with our families this Christmas, let’s not forget to remember the reason for the season this year. Take some time and reflect on all the blessing that we have be it family, close friends or loved ones, even our jobs which sometimes we take for granted. But when we do celebrate, as the words from James Haynes rings true – “It ain’t about Santa, it’s all about Jesus!” From all of us here at the Washington DC International Christian Church, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New! Year!
